Security Lapse: Prisoners escape from court

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Two suspects escaped police custody on Friday from the Anti Terrorism Court lock up. Ahsan Jehangir, a resident of Rahim Yar Khan, and Ishaq, a resident of Uch Sharif, had been charged with murder and kidnap for ransom. Civil Line SHO Irshad Bukhari told The Express Tribune that the prisoners had been at the court lockup for a hearing. “They sawed the steel grill and managed to flee,” he said. The suspects had been kept at the New Central Jail Bahawalpur. Bahawalpur DPO Ahmed Ishaq Jehangir has suspended the five police officials charged with keeping an eye on them. These include SI Faiz Ahmed, Constables Mohammad Mansha, Mahboob Iqbal, Mohammad Shabbir and Kaleem.
