SUKKUR:

At around 6am on Saturday, men from the Kalhoro tribe broke into Badal Lashari’s house in the Bedi Lashari village in Larkana, and opened fire at his friends.

Abdul Jabbar Samtio, Mubarak Ali Samtio and Mukhtiar Ali Samtio died while Abdul Qadir was injured, said the Vehar police. The bodies were found by the villagers at 11am and taken to Mehar Hospital and Larkana Hospital.

Tension gripped the area as men from the Kalhoro and Lashari tribes, kept shooting at each other at regular intervals.

The police and villagers suspect that the incident was linked to the Kalhoro and Lashari tribal dispute. Nearly four years ago, the two tribes fought over 1,200 acres of land near the Larkana and Dadu district border. The Kalhoro tribe claimed that they were cultivating half of the land and the Lashari tribe looked after the other half. However, as the dispute intensified, 32 tribesmen lost their lives.

The 1,200 acres of land was declared as a no-go zone by the police.
