Over 1,500 Bahawalpur students get laptops

Recipients are enrolled in evening classes at IUB, other universities.

As many as 1,395 students of evening classes at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and 191 students of other colleges of Bahawalpur Division given laptops at a ceremony on Thursday.


Besides the IUB, the colleges whose students were given laptops were Government SE College in Bahawalpur, Government Post-Graduate College in Bahawalpur, Quaid-e-Azam Medical College in Bahawalpur; Government RID College in Haroonabad, Government Post-Graduate College in Khanpur, Government Post-Graduate College for Women in Bahawalpur and Shaikh Zayed Medical College in Rahim Yar Khan. Provincial Minister for Prisons Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channer was the chief justice on the occasion. Speaking at the occasion, he said education was among the top priorities of the government. He said laptop distribution was part of the government’s objective to equip the youth of the province with latest technology. He said this was the second phase of distribution in Bahawalpur division. Laptops were distributed among students of morning classes at the IUB and other colleges.

IUB vice chancellor Prof Muhammad Mukhtar was also present on the occasion. He said IUB’s efforts from promotion of higher education were praised during a recent gathering of the vice chancellors of 300 universities of Pakistan and several Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) member countries. Bahawalpur Division Director Colleges Prof Mushtaq Javed was also present at the ceremony.
