KARACHI: The Senate Committee on Privileges has summoned the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ijaz Butt on August 19 in Islamabad after he gave inappropriate statements in the media against senators.

The committee chairman and Senator Tahir Mashadi said that there were allegations against the chairman for questioning the power of the privileges body.

“There are allegations against him for challenging the power of the committee and to clear the matter, he’s being summoned,” said the senator. “He may be cleared after a warning if he apologises. However, if he doesn’t, we will demand that he’s removed from the chairmanship from President Asif Ali Zardari.”

Butt alleged that some senators were trying to pressurise the PCB to clear the dues of the contractor, who constructed the new enclosure at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
