Volume: Rs765b budget for Punjab

Rs506 billion will be allocated for current expenditure and Rs260 billion for the Annual Development Programme.

The size of the provincial budget will be more than Rs765 billion, a 16.9 per cent increase from the previous year’s budget of Rs654 billion, The Express Tribune has learnt.


Of this amount, Rs506 billion will be allocated for current expenditure and Rs260 billion for the Annual Development Programme. The current expenditure allocation for the outgoing year was Rs434 billion and the annual development plan Rs220 billion.

A provincial government official said there would be no new taxes in the budget and added that the property tax tariff would be reduced. He said salaries and pensions of government employees would be increased for some categories by 20 per cent. He said more funds would be allocated for laptops and public transport schemes.
