Recouping losses: Hesco launches drive to recover dues

Hesco launched a large-scale campaign for recovery of outstanding dues worth Rs39 billion.

HYDERABAD: The management of the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) has launched a large-scale campaign for recovery of outstanding dues worth Rs39 billion. Out of the outstanding amount, various departments of the federal and provincial governments are liable to pay more than  Rs27 billion, while private consumers  have to pay outstanding dues totally Rs12 billion, a Hesco spokesman informed here on Friday. The spokesman informed that vigilance teams are conducting surprise door-to-door raids in the region and disconnecting defaulters’ power connections of on the directives of Hesco Chief Executive Officer Muzaffar Ali Abbasi. In case of non-payment of outstanding dues, cases will also be registered against such defaulters, he added. The Hesco CEO has already issued strict warnings to all officers to ensure hundred percent recoveries of outstanding dues; if any officer fails to achieve assigned tasks, he will be suspended, the spokesman informed.
