Character-building: Girls’ college tops competition

Students showcase models during competitions at Aiwan-e-Sir Syed

ISLAMABAD:

Four schools of the capital topped a competition for making artistic models depicting character-building and cleanliness at Aiwan-e-Sir Syed on Thursday.

The event was organised under the “Inspire Pakistan Programme” by Sir Syed Memorial Society (SSMS) and Federal Directorate of Education, in which 300 students took part from 10 schools and colleges.

SSMS President Brig Iqbal Shafi said we have to carry forward Sir Syed’s educational and character-building mission, Allama Iqbal’s philosophy of khudi and ijtehad and Quaid-i-Azam’s unity, faith and discipline and become responsible citizens to serve as role models for the younger generation.

Vice President Munir Ahmed Chaudhry said the programme was started in 2010 to build the capacities of about 1,000 students to prepare them for leadership.

Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) G-6/1-4  won the first position, IMCG I-9/1 came second, Islamabad Model College for Boys G-6/2 secured third position, while IMCG G-8/3 came fourth. Winners were awarded trophies and certificates.
