Lahore High Court: Justice Bandial to take oath as chief justice today

Justice Bandail will be the 41st chief justice of the LHC.

Justice Umar Ata Bandial will on Friday take oath as chief justice of the Lahore High Court at a ceremony at Governor’s House.


Governor Sardar Latif Khosa will administer the oath.

Justice Bandail will be the 41st chief justice of the LHC.

He became a high court judge on December 1, 2004, and will retire on September 16, 2016. He had registered as an advocate with the Lahore High Court in 1982 after a bar-at-law from Lincoln’s Inn, London.

He had declined oath under the Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO) in November, 2007. His legal expertise is in commercial, banking, tax and property laws.

Justice Bandial was born on September 17, 1958, at Lahore. He graduated from Columbia University in 1979 and from Cambridge University in 1981.
