This is with reference to Sehrish Wasif’s article “Gangs of Islamabad” (August 12). It is high time that parents increased their interaction with their children. They need to not only keep an eye on their children’s friends but also try and keep their children involved in constructive and meaningful activities. Reading and writing habits are on the decline and parents need to become proactive to ensure that this is reversed. Other than this, we should also have children engaged in outdoor sports because a healthy and fit body is as important as a healthy and fit mind. Parents should also make sure that their children do not watch too much television and that when they do watch it, they don’t watch programmes that have violence or adult themes.
