College chairman was arrested following the vandalisation of the college by the students.
GUJRANWALA:
Students of Victoria College of Commerce, which was sealed on Wednesday following a riot over non-issuance of roll number slips to the students were allowed to sit the Board of Intermediate Part-I examinations starting on Friday (today). Also on Thursday, police arrested two women employees at the college, Sadaf and Hina. The college chairman was arrested on Wednesday following the vandalisation of the college by the students. The students met District and Sessions Judge Rasheed Qamar on Thursday who directed the board officials to seize and auction the chairman’s property if necessary to return the fees collected illegally by the college. The judge has also directed the district coordination officer to submit a report on unregistered colleges in the district by the next week. Board Chairman Basheer Ahmed Mehr has, however, said that they would deduct Rs25,000 fine from each student if the property was sold. MNA Khurram Dastagir Khan said the decision was taken to ensure that the students’ academic year was not wasted. He said it was because of the chief minister’s love for education.
