The Markazi Anjuman Tajraan has warned that it might launch a civil disobedience movement in the city if the government did not take steps to end unscheduled loadshedding.
The traders met in a meeting on Wednesday, where they asked the Gujranwala Electric Power Company officials to cut the duration of power outages.
Markazi Anjuman Tajraan President Mehar Ghulam Mujtaba said that the traders planned to start a civil disobedience movement in the city soon to register their protest against loadshedding, which, he said, had become “unbearable”.
General Secretary Haji Ehsan Butt said exporters could not honour their commitments to deliver consignments to their foreign buyers due to the situation.
He said this was greatly affecting their businesses and consequently the country’s economy.
