BEIJING: Major-winners Louis Oosthuizen and YE Yang have boosted the field for this year’s $1 million Nanshan China Masters, said the organisers yesterday.

Oosthuizen, the 2010 British Open winner, will return to Asia for the October 11-14 event following his win at last month’s Malaysian Open, which came a week after he lost a play-off for the US Open title.

“Golf is such a worldwide sport now that you can have players from a country you’ve never heard of,” said Oosthuizen. “But China is just getting bigger and bigger in golf and it is great for the sport.”

South Korea’s Yang, who became Asia’s only major champion to date at the 2009 PGA Championship, is also a two-time winner on the OneAsia circuit, which is sanctioning the event at Nanshan International Golf Club, northeast China.
