Militants blow up boys primary school in Mohmand

The school building was destroyed in the explosion. Takes agency wide figure to 96 schools destroyed.

GHALANAI: A government primary school for boys was blown up in Mohmand Agency late on Monday.

The attack takes the number of destroyed schools in the region to 96, an Agency official confirmed.

Locals said that unidentified militants who are against literacy planted explosives near the school. The resultant explosion destroyed the school building.

The school destroyed on Monday is located in Qayyumabad area of Tehsil Safi of Mohmand Agency. Safi, considered a strong hold of the militants, where as many as 50 schools have been destroyed, the highest figure for any other area in the agency.
