Animal disease: ‘Chechri virus is being controlled’

MULTAN: The Livestock Department has taken steps to control chechri, a parasite that causes Congo fever virus. District Officer Jafar Raza said that after the news of death of a young man in Jilani Town in Multan, reportedly due to the Congo fever, the Livestock Department had set up a special camp at Jilani Town to eradicate chechri. He said thousands of animals were sprayed with insecticide and the city was under strict monitoring. He said officials at 14 veterinary hospitals, 98 veterinary care centres and dozens of veterinary dispensaries have also been instructed to be vigilant.
