Convoy target: Blast kills soldier in Nowshera

The military convoy came under attack after it reached Shirin Kota.

A soldier was killed and five others, including a captain, wounded on Sunday when a remote controlled bomb went off in Nowshera district’s Risalpur area, officials said.


The military convoy came under attack after it reached Shirin Kota.

The wounded soldiers were rushed to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Risalpur.

Police said the area was cordoned off just after the incident occurred and added a search operation had been launched in the adjoining villages.

Nowshera District Police Officer Muhammad Hassan Khan told media persons that the security convoy was on its way from Swat to Nowshera when it came under attack after reaching Shirin Kota, an area of the Risalpur Cantt.

He added the remote controlled device used around a kilogramme of explosives.
