Higher education: KU approves Rs3b budget

The university decided to seek Rs2.645 billion or nearly 80 per cent of its budget from the government.

The Karachi University syndicate approved a budget of Rs3.314 billion for the 2012-13 fiscal year during a meeting under vice chancellor Prof. Dr Mohammad Qaiser.


The university decided to seek Rs2.645 billion or nearly 80 per cent of its budget from the government. The PhD allowance was increased to Rs10,000, the chairmanship allowance to Rs5,000 and the deanship allowance to Rs6,000.

Finance department officials told others during the meeting that KU had not received the last quarter of its annual grant from the government and was therefore covering expanses from the supplementary grant.
