A girl studying in grade six was brought to hospital on Friday for a medical checkup after she accused an unknown man of raping her. The Sihala police registered a rape case against the unknown suspect and were still looking for him when this report was filed.
Police said the detailed medical report will take some time, however a case was registered after the initial medical report on the complaint of the girl’s father.
A police investigation officer said that the girl claimed she was returning from school while a young boy with a knife threatened to kill her. He took her to a secluded place near a stream and raped her, she told the police. The alleged rapist left the girl at the scene after committing the crime. The 13-year-old victim said she does not recognise the boy. When she managed to get back home, her family noticed her condition and took her to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).
Doctors carried out her medical check up to determine rape. The initial report confirmed the rape, but initial DNA test results were inconclusive, said a hospital official who had seen the medical report.
The police said the absence of conclusive DNA results could complicate investigations. However, “a sketch has been made using the description provided by the girl,” said an official of the Sihala police.
