World family day: Comic play highlights family values

Attracts more than 400 viewers comprising adults and children.

In an attempt to promote culture and family values, the Faisalabad Arts Council (FAC) organised a theatrical performance on the World Family Day on Wednesday.

The drama titled Home Sweet Home was meant to promote local culture in a humorous manner and captivated an audience of some 400 adults and children. It revolved around a family in a rural area in the Punjab.

Held in the Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Auditorium, the play was written by and directed by Sabir Chaudhry and performed by Adeel Hashmi, Ghafoor Kodu, Nadeem Sheikh, Anita Irani, Sarfraz Chaudhry, Irmash Munir, Waqar Chaudhry and Chand Rana. The play was sponsored by the Bait Management.

Thirty-year-old Naila Kausar from the audience said she had enjoyed a play after a long time. She said she, her husband and children could not stop laughing at the performance.

“It is a good attempt to portray our values in a light manner,” her husband, Naveed, said.

Shams Munir, another viewer, lauded the efforts of the FAC administration for arranging an event that passed “peacefully”. The people also appreciated the music and coordination of the actors.

“Anita Irani and Irmash Munir have magical voices,” Zareena from the audience said.

She said such singers should represent Pakistan at the international level.

Qamaruz Zaman, who said he thoroughly enjoyed the play, also said that such type of events played an important role in softening the image of a place or a country.

He said such plays sould be performed in other cities as well and should have media coverage so that the world gets to see teh creativity of the Pakistani youth. He said these plays could also play an important role in the revival of theatre in Pakistan.
