The Lahore High Court has sought replies from the Punjab government and the Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) on a petition against the non-provision of clean drinking water to the residents of Union Council 36, Baghbanpura.
Petitioner Advocate Muhammad Shahzad Ijaz contended that it was WASA’s responsibility to provide clean drinking water to citizens without discrimination but the people of his area were deprived of this facility.
He requested the court to direct WASA and other authorities to provide clean drinking water to all areas of the city and install water filtration plants in all union councils of Lahore.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah asked Assistant Advocate General Khawaja Salman Mahmood to seek instructions from the authorities concerned and assist the court at the next hearing on June 8. The case will be fixed before the green bench.
