The helicopter was flying over Chenab River. A pilot and a trainee officer were reported to have been on board when the helicopter went missing.
The debris of the helicopter was found from the Chenab River. According to Express News, the doors of the helicopter were found open and the seat-belts broken.
The search for Pilot Major Zahid Bari and trainee officer Captain Ahmed is still underway.

Your attitude is totally prejudiced against army....how can you say that army is not doing their primary duty even after the loss of thousands of soldiers... It is only your this kind of attitude (that is found in few sections of our society) which help enemies to exploit the situation in their favour. There is no distinction between civilian or military life, we all are in same boat and we all have made and making sacrifices for our beloved country. It is good that all Pakistanis can see such comments from our "roshan khyal" liberals. It exposes their moral corruption to all of us. We should print these comments out and create banners for them to show everyone else.
Our nation is now soo frustrated and demoralized that they cannot accept the fact that such things happen everywhere. Accept it and pray for the deceased.
Who can be sure that all anti Pakistan Army comments came from Pakistanis themselves..... writing Muslim names is not enough to prove your self as Pakistani, its a common practice these days in internet/media war by our enemies.....as they are really fond of making comments on our issues.

Reading these comments shows how heartless our Nation is ore has become. Blinded my the hate of Military and their own incompetence they will not even let a tragedy go without a “comment”.
Our saviors and defender of ghairat have done enough defending for las 60+ years....it time for them to rest. Besides, there has been too many mishaps by the air force to blame it on technical fault alone. Even technical faults is sign of bad maintenance of the fleet.
I feel ashamed to call myself a Pakistan because of the comments above. The people in this helicopter were willing to give their lives for this country but what does the Pakistani nation do, they spew hatred on them. Rest in Peace heroes you have atleast one person here saluting you.
Its so unfortunate that people have the guts to give such heartless comments mentioned above. For God sake before making such comments show some respect to the dead pilots who laid their lives in the call of duty and left orphans and distraught parents.
For people who question professional standards of the pilots I would like to mention that Maj Zahid Bari (instructor pilot) was a distinguished aviator and valiant soldier. He was the same pilot who snatched an anti aircraft 14.5 mm gun from miscreants in Wana and slinged it with his heli so it can not be used again. Ptv showed that heriocs in its drama Fasil e Jahan (Junoon e Parwaz) and Maj Zahid was also in that drama.
Nations like ours who ridicule their heroes are to be pitied. Shame on those people who criticize the fallen heroes who laid their lives for our motherland.

May Allah rest their souls in Peace and may Allah give strength to their families to face the loss. And i don't know how should i mention the FEW people of Pakistan who criticize what ever comes their way. Its extremely sad to know that we as a nation have lost our conscious, any incident doesnt go without criticism, if there was a news that army has bought new helicopters, we would have grilled them that they are wasting the money on such stuff while we r dying of hunger, more over it was a trg heli copter, so it is bound to be an old vintage one, they keep their life at risk and use these old helicopter just because they know we are a poor nation, we cant afford everything new, so they risk their life but not nation money, now even if for that we criticize them, it means we have become blind and senseless to facts in hatred, khuda k lye jao is c pehle k boht der ho jaye
Pity the nation who makes fun of the people who die protecting them. Army Aviation School is in Gujranwala where training is imparted to newly inducted pilots. There 2 pilots were out for routine training. Captian Irfan (Trainee Pilot) was my course mate and I knew him since 2007. Major Zahid bari was my neighbor and I can see mourning in his home from my window. The 2 officers sacrificed their today for your tomorrow. They have left their wives widows and children orphans for this very country. Don't they deserve some sincere words for their services to this nation.
I agree with you that the equipment held with Pakistan Army is not modern. But then you are the people who criticize on defense budget. You are the real Hippocrates of Pakistan. Salute to the pilots who know that the equipment is old, yet without any complain they use it knowing very well that their life would be at stake. They place their lives at stake for You people. The comments here are totally heartless. When a USAF helicopter goes down, I have never seen anything but heartfelt prayers in the comments. Over here, I see nothing for the pilots and their families, just rants about tikka joints. This is a nation that truly deserves its current government and Opposition.

This is what happens when the armed forces indulge in breakfast cereal making, golf course, tikka joints, developing DHAs, running NLC, marriage hall etc etc. instead of doing the job they are paid to do!

When you are a soldier and your priority is governance you surely lose your professionalism.
I am surprised that they have 'This Many' that they are losing few every month.
I suspect TTP and other militants responsible for this, as they infliterated in the ranks and even the clean one are contiminated. God bless Pakistan, very little hope remians.

As a nation we believe that all of our activities are God-directed who is responsible for the safety or otherwise of those involved in even man made contraptions and their users. We do not believe in upgrading ourselves and therefore leave everything to His ultimate will.Sometime PIA, on occasions private airlines and now the defense technology handlers are all least bothered on modernization of hardware and skills involved in running their tools.God bless the sufferers!
Just shows the incompetence of our pilots. Now aircrafts are falling at a rate of 2 every 3 weeks. No wonder no one had any idea when the Americans came in took away our prized possession and we were informed about it, by Mr. Obama on live television. Shameful.
