Fresh appointment: Arid varsity gets new Vice-Chancellor

Incumbent VC got a doctorate degree in Plant Pathology from University of Missouri, Columbia, USA.

RAWALPINDI: After months of being without a head, Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, has gotten an acting vice-chancellor (VC). Dean of Crop and Food Sciences Department Professor Dr Irfanul Haq has been appointed vice-chancellor after the retirement of acting VC Dr Munir Ahmed. Dr Munir reached the age of superannuation on May 5, amidst allegations of violations in rules and regulations of appointments in the university the regular VC, Dr Khalid Mehmood contract expired on February 1 this year. Since then, the university has been without a permanent head. The incumbent VC got a doctorate degree in Plant Pathology from University of Missouri, Columbia, USA. Dr Irfan has authored over 100 international and national research publications including research papers, review and popular articles, extension bulletins and technical reports.
