RAWALPINDI: Customs authorities at Benazir Bhutto International Airport on Monday seized foreign currency worth Rs70 million from an abandoned bag on a transiting Dubai-bound flight. Customs officials informed The Express Tribune that an abandoned bag was recovered from the toilet on PK-211, which was coming from Karachi and going to Dubai. Upon inspection, Saudi riyals, Norway kroner and Canadian dollars were recovered from the bag and the money was seized, said Customs Superintendent Inamul Haq. The customs official suspected that the carrier of the money was present on the flight and had to take the bag as soon as the flight left for Dubai. A case has been registered against unknown persons for carrying currency beyond the limit of US$10,000 (Rs913,000) in cash.
