The session was delayed because the quorum could not be completed today.
Nisar, while addressing a press conference earlier, had said that the celebration of Sindhi topi and ajrak day on March 13 was a “topi drama”.
While speaking to Express News, Sindh Law and Prisons Minister Ayaz Soomro said that Nisar does not have any respect for Sindh’s culture, the people of Sindh or the privilege committee. He said that if he does not come to the next session, an ex parte judgement will be passed against him to “get him jailed”.
He also said that the committee had “other ways as well”.
“If Nisar dares to raise his finger against Sindhi culture, we will raise our arm against him,” said Soomro.
MPAs of Pakistan Peoples Party had also threatened to besiege him during the National Assembly proceeding if he fails to apologise to the people of Sindh.
On May 15, a committee had met under the chairmanship of PPP MPA Mujadid Isran. Imran Zafar Leghari had tabled a privilege motion against Nisar’s remarks as well.
Leghari had said that Nisar had not only breached the privilege of all MPAs celebrating the culture day, but his derogatory remarks have hurt the sentiments of the people living in Sindh.

@ imran.....Dear u keep on repeating the cliches about dictatorship etc. etc. u can add further cliches such as martyers of democracy etc. nothing is going to happen. the reality is this; the province u are talking about (punjab) is relatively the best governed and relatively the least corrupt in this country. I dont know about PML N but the people of that province are quite open minded and accept change and move ahead. they even accepted the division of their province.
And what about the leadership of this province..........ethnically divided, full of mistrust for eachother and doing nothing to improve governance but sticking to power just for the lust of it.
@Zamir Malik: Malak saab, good idea. but that should be called dhoti drama (not topi drama). How about you organizing the event? lol....
Nisar should be sent to jail for hurting the sentiments of Sindhies (everyone who lives in Sindh), if he does not ask for unconditional apology.
We knw ur sayings nisar
He raise a finger, you raise an arm, then he raises a foot. He wins.
@Lobster: Dont be so sure, there are plenty who go commando
We should celeberate "chuddi" day to increase harmony. Clearly nobody can point finger as everyone wears it
In order to square things off Punjab government should announce Dhoti and Khusa day and Anyone from PPP should call it a Topi drama. So end of story and everyone will be happy. These are non issues in my VIew.
@pakistani: There is only one province which is awakened and enlightened enough to serve like slaves to every dictator. People of the same province used such derogatory remarks against Bengalis, just like they do now against Sindhis, Balochis and Pukhtoons. Comments from PML-N leader and covered by his stooges in this forum are not surprising. They are hell bent at destroying the social fiber of Pakistan, just for their politics in the Northern part of Punjab.
Unfortunately no one takes Sindh Assembly and the CM seriously !!!
Insulting anyone's Topa should be a crime.
No living and vibrant culture can be identified by specific head coverings or body wraps. Those who are so upset at the remarks of Nisar are displaying a pathetic behavior aimed at deluding the public and trying to distract their attention from the core issues.
lets see how long the people of sindh will be lullaby into sleep by using these petty matters. but rest asure......one day they will wake up..........
No wonder why Sindh still under drenches.
Haha - is this the best they can come up with Ch. Nisar????
Nisar was talking about the playing the playing the ethnic card by PPP was a topi drama.
I support him 110 percent on this remark. All Sindhis are sensible enough to understand what he was saying.
It's PPP that is trying to divide the country on ethnicity - this will be counterred snd stopped by PML N ideology.
i think ch. nisar is right.......atleast on this subject.............because it is sponsored by the ruling party to coverup its corruption, mismanagement, mis-rule and abuse of sindhs resources and make fool of the ordinary sindhis. Sindhi media sell it for the sake of increaing their viewership........its purely media selling on their part. on this day no issues are highlighted...........no questions asked from the ruling elite about the apathy they show about the very people they ruled for so long...............but the culture day is celebrated.
Last two years, half of the sindh was under water............but the festivities were so projected as if there were no issues......people were shown dancing everywhere....
I m sorry to say that but sindh will remain like what it is right now untill the people of sindh get the courage to challenge the dogmas around them.
My sindhi fellows dont mind...No one takes him seriously...
PPP has displayed during their four years rule that they don't have any regard for their shaheed leader who committed under the COD to shun the politics of hatred and now, when the other signatory party restraining herself so far to violate the COD, has come out openly defying her 'friendly opposition' image, they are crying foul. you asked for it babe!
y didnt ppp get mirza jailed when he spoke against urdu speakings?
Clearly the most pressing issue in Sindh for our MPAs
