Bilawal will be visiting New York and Washington DC.

CHICAGO: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is due to visit Washington DC and New York this week, in his first official visit to the country since 2009.

Talking to The Express Tribune, a source confirmed this development saying that Bilawal would be arriving in New York on May 21 to attend the Peabody Awards, wherein the documentary “Bhutto” is one of the winners.

The PPP co-chairman is then expected to travel to Washington DC for a week long trip.

His visit comes at a time when President Zardari is in Chicago to attend the NATO Summit.

    In what capacity is Bilawal, an unelected scion of a political leader attending the Chicago summit. I am sure it is the poor tax payer who will pay for yet another luxury trip yielding nothing.

    @sick of this nonsense:

    I think its he who is using Pakistan without any reason not us who criticise him or his dad, we have all the right to talk about PPP & he is part of that party.

    I don’t even consider him a part of our country as he lived all his life abroad (and still lives abroad), so how can such a person be aware of a common man’s problems?!. Secondly he has no vision for Pakistan, the only thing I have ever head from him is PPP not Pakistan!

    Anyway, don’t know when these politicians & their families will stop eating our tax money.

    @ sick of this nonsense: hmmm. Grandpa nationalized Pakistani industry and financial institutions killing the mojo of the then Asian tiger. Mummy gave everyone hope and rallied the troops but only gave nation a corrupt daddy. Daddy’s govt has crippled Pia, railways, worsened energy crisis and openly supported corruption. Somehow you then expect us to sing and dance upon hearing that baby Bhutto is now cashing in the “martyrdom of mommy” and “bhutto” phenomenon.. Bravo my friend.

    thats so right, I dont know just why these poor, illiterate people are criticizing bilawal. They lack the awareness probably. Dont know when are they going to realize that all their job is to pay taxes and thats all. And they have to keep their opinions to themselves. So what if Bilawal has been living abroad and has bred on his father’s corruptly earned money. He is sure to serve us next! And if you still don’t get the point read the next line carefully.
    Bilawal bhutto is the son of our president and grandson of Bhutto! Enough said!

    @sick of this nonsense: so true, how can they do taht dont they know he added Bhutto with his name.

    May 20, 2012 - 8:54PM

    Bilawal Zardari alias Bilawal Bhutto Zardari makes no difference to the people. Grandpa nationalized the industries, banks, schools, colleges. Go and see what happened to them, what is their condition, why are they being de-nationalized. Mom was there for photo op. His dad is there to make more dollars.

    Perfect comments on what Bhutoism stands for and how it has weakened institutions of state allowing Bhutto’s clan to manipulate them for personal greed and personal revenge against people of Pakistan. This group of people have nothing in common with the people of Pakistan.

    @usman lakhani:
    Who is paying for the internet services that you are using? Such a stupid question! Why do you people think they were a pauper family before they came to empower the wretched of the earth? Bhutto didn’t get education on tax-payers money nor did he send his sons and daughters abroad on tax-payers money. So why are you people so sick-minded? Almost every big or small businessman in Pakistan is a tax-evader and still we get to hear stories of generous tax-payers inhabiting our soil. Please stop it. The problem with you people is that you can’t help feeling jealous with whosoever is richer than yourself. That’s exactly why Quran has also ordained the faithfuls to pray to their Lord to “seek refuge from the evil of the envious when he envies.”

    @Blithe: Those who want to derail the whole system by their unqualified comments. There is a dire need to see things from its real context and not on personal disliking. Again, he is Chairman of a ruling party and as such has the right to interact with whom ever he deems necessary to get support for Pakistan. He is not heading any ‘TANGA’ Party who do not get even a single vote from their own children and family members.

    First a few facts:
    According to Pakistani and International law anybody can change his name anytime they want. In fact adding the name of a grandfather is natural if one is proud of their heritage and sacrifices. Only biased and hateful would question the use of basic right. On one hand these hateful rightwing do not like ZAB and BB on the other they are afraid of Bilawal using Bhutto name as their nightmare!
    The Peabody Award is not scheduled by Bilawal but by the organizers and anybody would be proud to receive that about the life of his mother. The NATO meeting was also not scheduled by Bilawal, or is he so powerful that he can make schedules of world leaders?
    Nawaz Sharif has no elected office of any kind. However he moves around with the full official protocol like many other political leaders. NS is the leader of second largest party and he deserves the respect. Why should the same treatment be denied to the largest party leader? The opponents only see Bilawal as yet another Bhutto who would again defeat them in the next elections.
