KARACHI: The week-long hockey camp to be held in Abbottabad from August 12 will involve at least four hours of power training per day besides the regular drills and individual coaching and the players have been advised not to fast during the camp.

“My advice to the players will be to not fast during the camp,” assistant coach Ahmed Alam told The Express Tribune. “Players should take this as a national cause because our religion also guides us to serve our country and in our case, to performing well in the Commonwealth Games and qualify for the 2012 Olympics is the prime objective.

Alam also advocated the Pakistan Hockey Federation’s decision of holding a three-week national camp in Netherlands a month before Commonwealth Games saying that the team will get a gym, running tracks and a hockey stadium at a single venue, while there is no such facility is available to them in Pakistan.
