The LHC administration has asked the Punjab government to create 696 new posts for civil judges, costing Rs2.16 billion, and 317 for additional district and sessions judges, costing Rs 1.68 billion.
The summary is based on the recommendations made by the Pakistan Law Commission and the judicial policy-making committee set up by the chief justice of Pakistan. The new appointments would reduce the case load on judges from the current rate of 969 per month to around 300 per month, the maximum rate recommended by the PLC.
