ISLAMABAD: Announcing its verdict in the suo motu case regarding corruption worth Rs26.5 billion in Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM), the Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered that the case be transferred to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Express News reported on Wednesday.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry directed the director-general of FIA to hand over all investigation records to NAB.
The court expressed lack of trust in the investigation conducted by the FIA.
The Supreme Court directed NAB’s chairman to supervise the inquiry and told him to conclude it within three months. The court also directed him to submit a compliance report every 15 days.
Bail of all the accused in the case was also annulled.
The Supreme Court issued a contempt of court notice to Interior Minister Rehman Malik for “unnecessary transfers” of officials conducting the probe, on December 17, 2009.
The court sought a reply from Malik within two weeks when the next hearing of Supreme Court will take place.

Yeah... it was FIA first...now SC wants NAB to earn good amount of money by blackmailing the dealers of steel mill.. HUH... i guess SC is not aware that how much corrupt these FIA and NAB are ..! :S everybody knows that FIA didnt even arrest ONE corrupt man.. those all were small dealers.. whats the point of annuling there bail :S JUST DO YOUR INVESTIGATION AND ARREST THE "RIGHT" PEOPLE...
Corruption can not be eradicated unless President Zardari be removed from his office.
Do not expect any results from the friendly NAB, particularly if the Zardari- Gilani duo or their front men are involved in looting steel mills. In any case Chairman NAB has already been paid by the Govt. for his friendly services.
SC is wasting her time along with nation time. They hear the case for so long ans instead of gaving punishment they transfer the case of NAB.Wat a waste of time. From the date of restoration SC has not punished any culprit but wasted too much time and resources.
why don't you pick up Mr. Rehman and charge him with offence by preventing the course of justice. To be honest it is a joke...NAB...what are they going to come up with? Mr. admiral will get another plot in Islamabad (which of course would be his right).....really disappointed...not a single corrpution case resulted in punishment to corrupt people....Justice delayed is Justice denied....
The Supreme court must realise that as their efforts appear less and less effective the corrupt appear to get more and more shameless.
Do people realise that in the end they pay for the corruption and the mega losses of Public sector corporations!
This PCO CJ is responsible for all the lawlessness in our country.
No concrete result . Still matter will investigate and by Whom ? NAB
If supreme court shows mistrust in anyone it change the inquiry office but when others have mistrust in any member of judiciary then it is ignored. It is pity and pity for judiciary becoz under the law every one is equal but here Orwellian dictum is right " All people are equal but there are some people who are more equal than others".
chief justice , the chief investigations officer , why not make him chairman of NAB
and we expect NAB to do wonder after getting 100 million plot.
Till how long the lambs that are the Pakistani public wait and see their SC get humiliated by our politicians? How much is too much? It sees the present government is only too eager to find out.
another futile attempt ... waste of time !!!
