Six people, including prominent religious leader and scholar Maulana Aslam Sheikhupuri and his driver, were gunned down in separate incidents on Sunday while a dismembered body was also found by the police.
Sheikhupuri’s car was attacked near the Rangoonwala Hall in Dhoraji area around 1 pm but the assailants managed to escape.
Bodies of the two young men, identified as 36-year-old Bahadur Khan and Shay Shah Faisal, were found in Bhutto Nagar. Both men were reportedly brought to an isolated area near Landhi 89 where they were shot dead between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
SHO Mazhar Iqbal Awan said that the police found at least five empty shells of a TT pistol from the crime scene, adding that the victims were shot on their face and neck.
Both victims belonged to the Hazara community and were labourers, but police said they had no political affiliation.
Their bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico legal formalities and a FIR against unidentified men was registered on behalf of the state.
Couple attacked
In Orangi Town, 28-year-old man Imran, was shot dead allegedly by his wife’s colleague, Anwar. His wife, Kehkashan, was also wounded during the incident which took place at the old furniture market.
Police said that Anwar allegedly opened fire at the couple while they were shopping for furniture but the assailant managed to escape. The couple was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital but Imran did not survive his injuries.
According to SHO Nasir Mehmood, the deceased was a resident of Gulshan-e-Bihar in Orangi Town. Mehmood said that the victim’s wife used to work with the suspect at a hosiery factory and according to the initial investigation, Anwar was interested in marrying Kehkashan.
Chopped into pieces
The dismembered body of Rajab Ali, a bus conductor, was found in a sack from the National Football Stadium adjacent to the Khokhrapar police station on Sunday. The 28-year-old’s body was cut into eight pieces and was taken to the Jinnah Post graduate Medical Centre. Ali, son of Mohammad Daud, was a resident of the Muslimabad slum area in Malir.
According to DSP Imdad Solangi, the deceased went missing on Saturday night and belonged to the Kutchi community. Solangi added that Ali had a criminal record and could have been killed over personal enmity.
Earlier, an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was shot dead in Korangi within the jurisdiction of the Zaman Town police station late Saturday night. The 38-year-old Sultan aka Kupal was sitting at the footpath adjacent Omar Hotel when two armed men arrived on a motorbike and opened fire at him. He died on the spot.
Police officials said that the victim was a resident of the same area and worked in real estate. The police have registered a case against unidentified persons.

sad very sad i really feel for hazara community may allah give them sabar these incidents have marking of a third party involvement to creat rift between shia and suni but we will remain brothers we have to find this third party, westran powers specially israeal is creating this rift between us for centuries to some extent they r sucseeded but we will remain defiant to there plans inshallah
all shia community are my brothers there izzat maal and jaaan is like my own we will inshallah create strong brotherhood among us but we need to find the culprit who creating this mess with allah help we will do inshallah
