Official visit: CM sets the record straight, checks out rally arrangements
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is not the enemy, said Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Friday. “Every political party has the right to hold a rally in retaliation to another party’s public meeting. The public meeting at Kamoon Shaheed is a message for our rivals to refrain from being too adventurous.” He added that Saturday’s (today) rally would prove that the people still supported the Pakistan Peoples Party.
While talking to the media at Sukkur airport, Qaim Ali Shah said that the party came into power because the people voted for them. “Let us complete our term,” he said. “The general elections will be held next year. The people will vote for us once again,” he said.
Responding to a question about PML-N’s long march, the chief minister said that they had seen many long marches and were not afraid. On being asked about Jeay Sindh Quami Mahaz Chief Bashir Qureshi’s viscera being sent to London, Shah said that a judicial commission had been formed to investigate the case and the viscera had been sent for an examination to the United Kingdom.
Besides Sukkur, the chief minister also visited Kashmore and Kamoon Shaheed. He met former district nazim Sardar Saleem Jan Mazari, former taluka nazim Haji Abdul Rauf Khoso and former Kandhkot taluka nazim Rashid Sundrani who announced that they had joined the PPP. Sundrani’s older brother, Abid Sundrani is a Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid MPA. Shah went to Kamoon Shaheed to check how the arrangements for Saturday’s rally were coming along.
Sardar Saleem Jan Mazari started his political career by contesting in non-party elections in 1985 and was elected as a MPA from Kashmore. In the general elections of 1988, Mazari was defeated by Shah Ali Domki, an independent candidate. In 1990, Mazari joined the PPP and was elected as a MPA in 1993. In 2000, Mazari joined the PML-Q.

No live updates; not much media coverage even on the day of the rally; despite massive attendance. Of course its a PPP rally of the peasants and workers and not a PTI rally of urban citizens.
