On hold: Court stays G-14 award announcement
Stay order against the award in response to a petition filed by residents of Thalla Syeddan village
ISLAMABAD:
Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui restrained the Islamabad Capital Territory land acquisition controller (LAC) from announcing the award of built up property (BuP) for the revenue estate of Thalla Syedan, Sector G-14. The stay order against the award was issued on Wednesday in response to a petition filed by residents of Thalla Syeddan village. Petitioners Muhammad Riaz and others through their counsel contended that officials from the housing ministry, Public Works Department (PWD), and federal government employees housing foundation (FGEHF) employees constituted a committee to scrutinise the claims of BuP of the affected villagers. He alleged that Housing Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat then ordered a survey of the built up property by PWD and FGEHF officials and after the re-scrutiny, they adopted a pick-and-choose policy by verifying the cases of 788 affected villagers.
