Hajj quota: Stay extended till May 18

Petitions by 21 tour operators challenged over allegation of violation of Hajj Policy 2012

LAHORE: Justice Umar Ata Bandial of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday extended till May 18 the stay order restraining the Ministry of Religious Affairs and tour operators from receiving pilgrims’ applications for Hajj. The judge deferred the hearing of petitions moved by 21 tour operators who challenged the allocation of Hajj quota over allegation of violation of Hajj Policy 2012. A deputy attorney general sought time to file a reply. The petitioners’ lawyer, had alleged that the ministry had issued quota in violation of rules using back-dated notifications.
