Orient Labs: Charges to be framed on May 17

Judge agreed to defer the case as the accused said that they did not currently have a lawyer.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Tariq Mehmood Zargham has deferred till May 17 the framing of charges against three brothers who own Orient Labs, a pharmaceutical company whose factory on Multan Road collapsed and killed 26 people on February 6.


Orient Labs chief executive Zaheer Iqbal and directors Zafar Iqbal and Zubair Iqbal were to be arraigned on Wednesday, bur the judge agreed to defer it as the accused said that they did not currently have a lawyer. In an FIR registered at Sabzazar police station, the three are accused of offences under Sections 302 (murder), 324 (attempted murder) and other sections of the Pakistan Penal Code.
