Three arrested as robbery protests turn violent near Empress market

One shop keeper was killed when a robbery attempt went bad. Rioters vandalised cars, burn vehicle.

KARACHI: Police raided areas in and around Saddar’s Empress Market in Karachi on Wednesday and arrested three suspects accused of rioting after a shop keeper was shot, Express News reported.

According to Express News correspondent Nadeem Khan, few unknown armed men started firing in protest after a shop keeper was shot when a a robbery attempt went  bad. The rioters also picked fights with another group of armed men.

The miscreants also attacked cars, breaking their windows before burning one.

Police, headed by SP Saddar, soon reached the area and dispersed the crowd by aerial firing.

They arrested three suspects in subsequent raids.
