GARHI KHAIRO: The protest movement initiated by Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) to pressurise Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani to step down from his post reached Garhi Khairo city of Sindh on Tuesday.

Addressing the rally, PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif questioned what President Asif Ali Zardari had given to the people who elected him. “These are the people who voted for you in grief of BB [former prime minister Benazir Bhutto], and this is what you give them?”

Sporting a Sindhi cap, Nawaz said that he loved this Sindhi tradition where people welcome him with a cap and an Ajrak. “I’m as Sindhi as I’m a Punjabi. And, I’m as Balochi as I’m a Sindhi. And, I’m as much Pathan as well.”

The protest movement began in Taxila on Saturday where Nawaz Sharif termed it as a “war to save the Supreme Court”. The movement was launched after the Supreme Court convicted Gilani in a contempt of court case. Several parties demanded the premier to step down calling him ‘ineligible’ to hold the post.

The PML-N had also protested during National Assembly sessions and boycotted the Senate’s debate on President Zardari’s address. The party has stated that it will continue with such protests till Gilani resigns.

I saw the speech he gave in Sindh today, very unprepared (he did not state the right figures and struggled to convert dollars to rupees when talking about corruption) and quite a typical approach by just criticizing his own President/Prime minister, he did not say anything new or innovative to the people. He just complained like a grumpy old woman. He criticized the condition of schools in Sindh but lets not forget that his brothers government took funds from the Primary education department to distribute laptops (Mubasher lucman revealed the laptop scam with evidence).

These two mainstream parties have fooled the people long enough. We have seen how the people can remove corrupt governments in Greece and France (we have to wait and see if they made the right choice but atleast they brought change). People of Pakistan have to stand together and vote for a change and for an honest person who does not have a single accusation of any sort against him, unlike these two parties who have endless accusations/convictions of all types against them and their family members. People are with Imran Khan not because all of a sudden he got some new charm, its because people have realized how they have been used and abused by both these parties.

May Allah bless our people and our country and help us out of this mess
