The visiting Indian boy scouts and girl guides participated in two cultural events in Islamabad, said two separate press releases issued on Friday.
On Friday, the Indian delegation visited the Islamabad College for Girls (IMCG). IMCG Principal and Pakistan Girls Guide Chairperson Naveed Hameed received the guests.
IMCG students, along with the visitors, performed skits, national and folk songs under the slogan “messengers of peace”.
In her address, Hameed said, “[Pakistan and India] are bound by geography … to live together.”
Indian Girls Guide and Scouts Chairperson Gita Rawat said, “I personally believe that we have to focus on the similarities instead of the differences.”
At the end, shields and souvenirs were presented to the guests by the Directorate of Education Schools Director General Shaheen Khan and Principal IMCG Naveed Hameed.
Performance at PNCA
Earlier on Thursday night, the Indian visitors attended a cultural event at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA). Dressed in traditional costumes, the Indian visitors presented their folk music, dance and songs such as “Pyaar Banttay Raho”.
A local team presented Pakistani folk music and dances for young guests. The guest scouts were holding flags of both countries. At the end all the scouts gathered on stage and danced on “Lal Meri Pat”, a dhamal tune by renowned folk singer Qurban Niazi.
