Lyari violence: Uzair Baloch agrees to surrender to Rangers conditionally
But, he added, that he will surrender to the Rangers “only on one condition, that they should investigate themselves”.
“We will welcome the Rangers… But we do not trust the government,” he added.
“The people of Lyari can bow down if treated with love, but they will never stoop under power.”
Police hopeful of achieving target by Friday
Inspector General (IG) Sindh Mushtaq Shah has said that the police are hopeful of achieving their target in Lyari by tomorrow. He was speaking to the media on Thursday.
He said that the area where the operation is being carried out is the main headquarter of the terrorists, and the police will try to clear out the area of criminal elements.
“The police will continue to be after the criminals until they are arrested,” Shah added.
Shah pointed out that arrangements were being made to provide food, water and electricity to the residents of Sangu Lane.
Police will provide complete protection to the teams of Sindh Government and other social welfare organisations who want to provide relief goods to affected people in Lyari, he added.
Responding to a question, he said that the number of rocket and hand grenade attacks has declined due to the police operation against gangsters and so far four terrorists have been killed during the last 24 hours.
The operation in Lyari continues for its seventh day.
According to Express News correspondent, the police try to enter different areas but miscreants fire rockets and throw hand grenades forcing them to retreat back to their earlier position.
Rangers and extra police personnel were also called in on Wednesday, and Station House Officers (SHOs) from district East, over 100 sharp shooters and four extra armoured personnel carriers (APCs) were called in for the final round of the police operation.

Disgusting one sided operation for the likes of mysterious Tapi. PPP just shot them selves in the foot. As in every thing else they are absolutely clueless. From any media report from the area its clear the people want the police out. Sure militant groups should never be allowed but just this targeting of just one group after it has been used by the government disgusting. As an aside.One things I find very compelling about the boundless courage of the brave citizens of Lyari. Where as rest of Karachi has been ghettoised by hate and ethnicity. In Lyari all ethnicities seem to have learned to coexist and develop a common inclusive culture. Either its a hint of what Karachi once was or can become again (sans the poverty, crime, militancy and violence Of course)

The operation is against the people who are defying state authority and indulging in all kinds of criminal acts, ranging from target killing to bhatta khori and kidnapping. Now some of the gang leaders are 'complaining' that the state is targeting them instead of protecting them. Do they not know that once they take up arms against the state, they lose the right to protection by the state? Had they been on high moral ground, they could have a case deserving the people's sympathy. They should simply give up their criminal ways and start behaving like law abiding citizens. They should also stop indulging in factional politics that leads nowhere. The action is not against the common citizens of Lyari but against the criminals who have held Lyari hostage! More such action is needed in other areas, where other parties and criminals of a different sort are ruling the roost. It is in the interest of all, in the interest of the city and of the country that law and order be maintained at all cost .

This operation should be condemned in strict terms possible. The entire area is under siege and everyone is trapped no food water, this has turned into a sever humanitarian crisis. Still some ignorants are asking for army aviation and air force to be used in this operation. There are criminals in other areas of Karachi but police never dares to operate there. Why only Lyari?

Well I know Lyari situation and i have met many Lyari residents in the past. They are poor people, have no education and they are Indigenous people as they existed before Partition but after the creation of Pakistan what happened that they were marginalized. No education and no jobs and obviously they feel oppressed and then some people took arms to sustain themselves and there are many other factors
I am giving a challenge to Police that they can never took control of Lyari. The Balochs are with PAC. They consider PAC as a Legitimate council. When people are with them then Government cannot do anything. Give them rights, give them education, establish schools and colleges and generate jobs and they will lay down their arms. They are more nicer people than rest of Karachi and more hospitable and it is a myth that Punjabis cannot go there as many residents of Lyaris are Punjabis too.
Also It would be a sad day when Uzair Baloch will be killed as after that Like Bugti we will polarize more Balochs against Pakistan as Pakistanis did not resepected Bugti but Balochis did and now we are ought to kill another Prominenet Baloch and then in the end we want their existence with Pakistan. The majority of the people living at Liyari is innocent and poor. We feel pitty for them and as they have no electricity, water, TV coverage, mobile signal, food and safety, they need help. They are used as human shield by the mischief mongers and run a danger of death at every moment. We pray for their safety and well being and we are with them. On the other hand thise people who are creating trouble have waged war against the establishment of the country. Their unconditional surrender, laying of arms and destruction of arsenal may save the nation from a bigger damage. If they do so, a sympathetic approach may be needed. However, those from terrorist organisations who ahve joined them from outside, need a different dealing. The country must be made safe.

The arms came there and the area had heavy fortification. They had all kind of arsenals, which a well equipped army may have. They used human sheilds and lived in narrow streets. The action was insufficient, ineffective and taken half heatedly. The innocent citizens became foodless, homeless and destitute. What a great planning and its execution. Any stategist will laugh at the the wit of planners.

This operation is nothing but a futile exercise, only creating hatred for the state of pakistan. What Liyari has been given in so many years NOTHING, and now they are getting dead bodies.I am against the criminals but what about the people who killed all police officers involved in the operation against MQM. There is an ethnic cleansing of pushtoons are going on in Mohajir dominated areas , when government will start operation against those target killers of MQM???

If POLICE Want to kill or Arrest them they will call Ranger's Helicopters every body knows but I don't know why is delaying this process.
