Press Freedom Day: Govt to uphold media freedom, says Zardari

Adds government believes in providing genuine access to information for the sake of transparency and accountability.

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday said the government and the Pakistan Peoples Party are committed to upholding media freedom in the country. In a statement to mark the Press Freedom Day, the President said the liberalization of media in Pakistan owed a great deal to the struggle of journalists and the support given by the PPP, whether in the government or in opposition. He said the government believed in providing genuine access to information for the sake of transparency and accountability.

Yes dear President you deserve the credit for up holding the press freedom. At times one wonders how it is tolerated. The other day on one TV channel, information minister also showed it practically by listening very strong remarks of a TV anchor. Keep it up. At least one plus point to your government.
