Financing the poor: Microfinance bank begins operations

WMBL has been established to cater for the unbanked low income groups by providing financial services to their needs.

Waseela Microfinance Bank Limited (WMBL) announced the commencement of its operations in Pakistan with the opening of its first branch in Islamabad, according to a press statement issued on Wednesday.


WMBL has been established to cater the need for banking and financial services that are simple and easily accessible for the unbanked and under-banked and serve these low income groups by providing financial services suited best to their needs.

“Waseela Microfinance Bank and its management will continue to research, innovate and offer customer focused solutions that are easily accessible to the general public.”

WMBL President and CEO Ghazanfar Azzam said at the inauguration ceremony.
