According to Senator Pervez Rashid, PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif will start with addressing public gatherings in Punjab. The first rally will be held on May 4 in Taxila and will be followed by rallies in Gujranawala on May 7, Bahawalpur and Sargodha on May 8, Multan and Rawalpindi on May 10, Sialkot on May 11 and Gujrat on May 12.
Later, rallies will be held in Khyber-Paktunkhwa (K-P), Balochistan and then in Sindh.
Nawaz Sharif will address a final public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore, where he will announce launch the Long March.
According to PML-N sources, the party has decided it will force stakeholders within and outside the country, including the army, to mount pressure on PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari to replace Gilani as prime minister.
Earlier, the PML-N president had announced that a countrywide mass movement would be launched against the government if Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani did not step down after his conviction by the Supreme Court.
A meeting of PML-N’s top leadership was convened in the capital on Monday to decide on the party’s line of action after the apex court convicted the prime minister in a contempt case.

Its all our fault, we do not think through our brains, we try to think through our hearts. In this free world every person has right to own their personal opinion but not necessarily it would be binding on others.
What is the ground reality. PPP and its allies have attained dominating majority in Senate. They have completed their term and are doing home work for next election. It was their maneuvring or it was mother nature blessing that Imran Khan jumped in arena and shouted tsunami. Whose bank vote he is damaging, one and only PML-N, causing the wind-profit for none other than PPP. PTI and PML-N are horn locked and a series of showdown is going on to show who is more popular. That has provided a breathing time for PPP to do some home work for next election. In urban areas, I confess PPP has lost its popularity due their misdeeds. But they are vouching on rural vote bank where there is no PTI. PML-N in Punjab is in better position, all patwaris are under their influence.
Facebook and Twitter are fake social media. One time Musharraf spent some 400 million dollar and for six month it looked like Musharraf is the only popular leader in Pakistan. Then he realised its all waste of time waste of money, so he backed out. It would have been fitness of things if recent rallies by PML-N were for expressing solidarity with Chief Justice who is in hot water.
we are ready to go outside 4 judiciary main sb.
@Nadeem: Your logic doesn't work. A contempt case not giving jail time is not comparable to a murder case. Laws are a hierarchy of separating one thing from another based on the severity of the Offense. You can't use a one size fits all. If you did then a traffic violation could put you in jail for life or an admitted to mass murderer may get a slap on the wrist (that one is actually rare in most countries)
@ Nadeem, supreme court charged him for contempt of court and punished him accordingly. It's not for Imran khan to put him in jail.
ET...do you think we all are stupid that we can not see your biased reporting when you have completely ignored IK/PTI's call for May 6 Rally.
Shame on your biased and one-sided reporting.
Now delete my comment.
Quitting assemblies would lead to automatic early election.People arent stupid...
changing Gilani will only benifit Ppp
Pmln leadership has no vision. What change would it make if gillani is replaced by another PM from PPP?Nothing at all
I can sense the fear of Tsuanmi behind PML N's moves. Too late Mian Saab. Too late
We are not coming out anyway. You will enjoy ministries and national assemblies, and expect that we give sacrifices. We are not fool. Do what you want to do. Thanks but no thanks.
Wait till the final judgement and result of appeal is announced. This instance is taken by all those where sanity and rationality prevails. If PM would have resigned earlier it would have raised his stature morally. However if he opted the legal course he has all the rights. Just for nothing chaos and confusion is being created every where. At least I would very humbly request all peace loving people of Pakistan not to get prey to the deceiving claims of political leaders. They all belong to same category and every Pakistani is a witness to it. Do not waste your time, energy and do not paralyse the daily life. Just do not turn up for any protest rally whole thing will die down. Let the SC to take its time and hope for the best. May Almighty guide all of us to right path and right direction for the motherland. AMIN
if PML N removes this govt by illegal means then the next govt will never be stable And there is good chance that Army will intervene so nawaz and Shebaaz ,don't be ;;;;; A TURKEY ASKING FOR AN EARLY XMAS --------
this is more like protest in punjab campaign my advice to pml n is do rallies in sindh where ppp vote bank is based...
Why on earth did they wait 4 years to do this? And even now there is no date given? If Gillani is removed than another corrupt PM will replace him so what is the point of this exercise? PMLN out to fool masses once again with shambolic gestures.
Why did they sign the 18th ammendment which lead to massive load shedding in industrial areas of Punjab? Noon, beware!! A very dark fate awaits you!!!
Topi drama, they will back off soon, as Ch Shujaat said Long march wont go any further than Ravi bridge
plz resign from gov then protest against gov
"The first rally will be held on May 4 in Taxila and will be followed by rallies in Gujranawala on May 7, Bahawalpur and Sargodha on May 8, Multan and Rawalpindi on May 10, Sialkot on May 11 and Gujrat on May 12" All the rallies are in Punjab. They haven't given us any schedule for a single rally outside of the province where they are ruling and can use provincial government resources to assemble patwaari's and civil servants as well as school children. Once again it is proved that they are a Punjabi Party not a national one.
Hurry up Nawaz other wise captain will beat you again.no matter what you do you cant win this match.
Please don't waste time...Just resign from National and Punjab assembly...Bring the house down and go for new elections....in which Youth must vote...we need change...
All this drama is pre decided both are in partnership we have experiences with them since 1947 PTI is the only new hope now.
Sounds more like kick starting election compaign onpretext of protests against the government. I think people of Pakistan have learnt alot in the last four years and they can see through the lies of PMLN.
I support PTI's more considered reponse at least they are not exploiting the situation to cover their own corruption and bad governance
Why PTI reluctant to go all out against PPP, Isn't it Noora Kushti after all!!
This looks like more of a schedule for Jalsas not a rally.
hahaha :D
Noora Kushti again and no concrete measures. Both Federal and Provincial governments will continue to do this Noora Kushti until the budget is presented. Lets make fool of the nation, together by scratching each others back.
Nawaz Sharif is half-heartedly undertaking this protest movement for fear of being upstaged by Imran Khan's PTI. Nawaz Sharif has been in cahoots with PPP and was resigned to the fact that PPP will rule until 2013 and then it will be Nawaz Sharif's turn and PPP would let him rule undisturbed for the next 5 years. But Imran Khan has spoiled the game by jumping in the foray and refusing to let the two traditional parties to rule Pakistan as their personal fiefdoms.
IK is giving full support to Gilani by stating that Gilani's insistance to hold on is not a constitutional volation. According to him violation would only be committed if Gilani does not step down after final apeal is decided. Now by the same token, a murderer convicted by session court and sentenced to imprisonment should not be arrested till his appeal with Supreme Court is not decided. How would that look to Mr. IK. Sometimes, best of people lose their judgement in bias. Now that NS is about to take on PPP, Mr IK has come to its rescue with a logic of his own. Ik's refusal to join with NS would cost him an armand aleg politically.
all at Each Other's Throats
@blithe: Pity on the cluelessnes of the PMLN leadership! 4 years of noorakushti will really haunt now!
Well done PML(N). We support the move made by PML(N).
Nawaz and Asif are good politician. Kyani should resign from his post ASAP because he is dangerous man.
Something missing from the schedule - Time for abolishing the protest compaign.
I remember PMLN started a Go Zardari Go movement a few months ago as well....then few weeks later we saw Nawaz saying on TV to his supporters to stop chanting Go Zardari Go ?!?
They might start a Go Gilani Go movement, but they are so unreliable that they could cancel the movement at any time...
There you go again PML-Nawaz . Another Million Long March : this time up till River Jehlum Bridge , I wonder !!
Did Pervaz Rashid say how many chairs will be at Lahore jalsa? :)
Aim is "to mount pressure on PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari to replace Gilani as prime minister". Will that solve the problem Mr. NS?
When is the lahore rally? No date goven!!! When the long march will begin? No date given!!! Can other small jalsis put pressure on Govt?
Great move!
Like restoration of the judicary, only PML N can lead this other noble movement.
