WASHINGTON: Ferrero Inc, the maker of Nutella is allocating $3.05 million to resolve a sticky class action lawsuit filed by a Californian mother who alleged that Ferrero has established an image of the spread being healthier than it is and contains high levels of saturated fat. Settlement notice issued stated that Ferrero would $4 for every jar sold in the state since August 2009. Additionally, the company also agreed to change some segments from marketing statements regarding Nutella. In the statement given by Ferrero spokesperson he said that Ferrero will continue to stand by its product and commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Furthermore he added that the company thinks it is in the company’s best interest to resolve these matters. Financially, settling the Nutella lawsuit was peanuts for Ferrero. The company made pre-tax earnings of $1.13 billion on sales of $9.5 billion in its most recent accounting year.
