Three madrassa students beaten

Complaint lodged by the parents of a six-year-old and an eight-year-old alleging that a cleric beat them in class.

Three madrassa students were allegedly beaten on Thursday in two incidents.


Bahawalpur Saddar SHO Ghulam Dastageer told The Express Tribune that a complaint had been lodged by the parents of a six-year-old and an eight-year-old alleging that a cleric beat them in class.

He said the children had been beaten with a stick. He said the teacher Ghulam Akbar had been arrested.

In the second incident, Husnain Ahmed was accused of beating a 13-year-old boy with a gas pipe in Nawaba village.

SHO Mian Noor of Kotwali police said they had not been able to arrest the suspect.
