Premature to say if the girl had jumped with the intention of committing suicide or if she was pushed, says Police.
ABBOTABAD:
A teenage girl who was seriously injured after falling from a third storey building on Thursday evening is still in coma.
The cause of the accident has yet to be ascertained as the girl was critically injured and unable to record her statement, according to the police.
Eyewitnesses said they saw a young girl hitting the ground with a thud from the third storey of Khyber Shinwari plaza Mandian. They informed the police who took the victim to Ayub Medical Complex.
“Her condition is critical as she has received a head injury,” said a medical officer at the hospital.
An examination had not been conducted to determine if the girl was subjected to sexual assault as the victim was unconscious due to head injury.
SHO Mirpur Qamar Hayat Khan said the girl has been identified as Hina Bashir, a resident of Shimla Hills, Malikpura. A second-year student she left home to take an exam.
In the afternoon she called her mother to say that she was going to a friend’s house to take notes for her exams.
The SHO said that it was premature to say if the girl had jumped from the window with the intention of committing suicide after some mishap or if she was pushed.
“It is not clear why the girl had climbed to the third floor of the plaza which was unoccupied,” he added. The police have taken the girl’s mobile into custody and started investigations.
Replying to a question, the SHO said only two rooms were occupied in the plaza while the rest were locked.
A case has been registered against unknown offenders under section 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
