Grammy-award winning singer and mother of Blue Ivy Carter, Beyonce was named the world’s most beautiful woman for 2012 on Wednesday by People magazine. The 30-year-old entertainer was awarded People’s top spot after she and her rapper husband Jay-Z welcomed their first child in January, reports Reuters.

The list also includes actors Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence, British singer Adele, newly pregnant actor Megan Fox, Snow White and the Huntsman villain Charlize Theron, Mirror Mirror star Lily Collins, “Mad Men” vixen Christina Hendricks, Michelle Williams and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton.

“I feel more beautiful than I’ve ever felt because I’ve given birth. I have never felt so connected, never felt like I had such a purpose on this earth,” the singer told the magazine. Beyonce continues to gush about her baby girl, saying, “She’s just the cutest thing,” adding that she makes up songs to sing to her baby. When asked which of her parents the baby resembles more, Beyonce responded, “She looks like Blue. She’s her own person,” mtv.com quotes the singer as saying.

She’s long been known as a high-maintenance diva, but it seems motherhood really has transformed Beyonce. The singer, 30, has revealed she now cuts her own hair and happily wears flat shoes following the birth of her daughter. “I never thought there would be a day when I wouldn’t wear heels. Now that I have a child, I walk around holding her all day, I’m buying loafers and oxfords. I love them because they’re comfortable,” dailymail.co.uk quotes the singer as saying.

While Beyonce is focused on her doting piece these days, she is also prepping to get back to work. According to mtv.com, the “Crazy in Love” singer is slated to perform in Atlantic City over Memorial Day Weekend and is rumoured to be working on new music for a follow-up to 2011’s music album titled 4.
