DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Record holder Kharilzada Kasrat Rai is set to walk all the way from Dera Ismail Khan to Swat in an effort to promote peace in the country.

Rai is already a two-time recorder for the longest peace walk - from Khyber to Karachi from September 14 to November 24, 2011.

He claims his work has won him an award and a mention in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Rai will start the march called “Peace Walk from DI Khan to Swat” from the Haqq Nawaz Park, DI Khan on April 26 and will arrive in Swat on May 5, 2012, coordinator of the project Mesummer khan told The Express Tribune.

“The main objective of the walk is to deliver a message to the world that we want peace,” Rai told The Express Tribune.

The peace walk has been arranged by the tourism, culture and sports and the home departments in collaboration with the district government.

The district governments will provide security, boarding and lodging all throughout Rai’s journey.

Aman Tehrik, a representative body of civil society organisations, also announced its support for Rai.
