Boxing: Wasim, Azam succeed in bouts

KARACHI: Wapda’s Mohammad Waseem thumped Railways’ Mohammad Asif 33-1 in the 34th National Boxing Championship’s 52kg bout at the Punjab College Hall in Lahore. PAF’s Mirza Azam whipped Wapda’s Nisar Ahmed 40-15 in the 75kg event, Attaullah of Police, PAF’s Abdul Waheed and Hallar Qambrani also registered wins in other 52kg category bouts. In the 49kg bout, PAF’s Obaid pipped Police’s Mohib 16-12 while Navy’s Sheroz, Balochistan’s Jabbar and Wapda’s Naqeeb Ullah also won. In the 56kg bout PAF’s Naimatullah defeated Army’s Sajjad Ali 21-11, while Wapda’s Qadir Khan beat PAF’s Farhan 13-6 in the 60kg bout.
