Shabnam, accompanied by her husband, renowned music composer Robin Ghosh, expressed her joy at coming back to the country that brought her fame. The couple, originally belonging to parts in former East Pakistan, had shifted to Bangladesh at the end of the 20th century.
“I’ll try to meet everyone,” the actor told the media on being asked whether she will meet her former colleagues in the country. She further expressed sorrow over the closure of Pakistani film studios.
When asked if she would consider working for Pakistani films again, Shabnam didn’t sound too sure.
On the insistence of some media personnel, Shabnam sang a line from one of the songs filmed on her.
According to a report by Dawn, Shabnam is returning to the country to be a part of a show organised by Pakistan Television to honour the couple for their contribution to Pakistani films.

see the history, there have always been at least 2 civilisations in indian subcontinent, one is indus valley civilisation which is different from rest of india.it might have been conqured by other civilisations but it kept its differnet flavour. bindi and saree have never been culture of indus valley civilisation. anyway, dont care about bindi and saree of Shabnam. have other things to worry about. just wanted to reply another pakistan bashing comment
a very beautiful lady /actress of her time separate from others actress..a heart taker lady.
shabnam is very graceful lady she is legend, her acting was excellent.
Shabnam is a great Pakistani superstar visiting her 'second home' and she comes from Bangladesh. . I wonder why it bothers our neighbour Indians? She never starred in any Bollywood film.
Welcome home, queen!

@Praja tantra: What is wrong with the bindi and sari? They are expressions of Indian culture that existed before Muslims invaded South Asia to bring the shalwar Kameez. Why are you guys making a fuss of things that are irrelevent. Shabnam is a great singer and we wish Bangladesh well in the future. No one wants to talk about past history and politics. Bangladesh and Pakistan are different countries and even if Bangladesh has more in common in culture with India, it is still a brotherly nation.
Alas! The gems this country has lost...and continue to lose. It is a very sad state of affairs.
Good work PTV
Sorry everybody now she is a citizen of Bangladesh . Sabnam we are waiting for you
Welcome back, your acting and Robin Gosh's music still rule our hearts
"Shabnam & Nadeem" A classic duo of golden era at Pak film industry
@Arijit Sharma: Perhaps you should ve been more clear in your opinions so that there is no ambiguity. Thanks for caring enough to reply back. Care is all that matters really!
@Troll Valla: " ... Sorry, no prejudice here! Apparently you saw a bindi lady and figured somehow it concerns you…. ... "
What I meant is Muslim stars in India have achieved stardom without having to dilute their Muslim-ness - the same seems to be the case with Jharma/Shabnam - she has achieved stardom without losing her religion.
i love shabnam and nadeem.
How did someone ask her if she going to work for Pakistani film industry. Where is Pakistan film industry its all finished. No more studios no more cinemas so how she can agree to work here.
@Arijit Sharma: Bindis are beautiful. The enhance the beauty and the tej of the person using it. She is lookng beautiful and most glorious with her red Bindi. It is clear she is proud of her identity.
... bewaqoof Indians ... everything is politics to the Indians commenting here ...
Welcome back to Pakistan. You are legend and my parents still have very fond memory of you. Glad to have you back.
@Arijit Sharma: So what?
Jharna and Robin are hindus from east bengal. The hindus were the gems of pakistan, if only the state had not committed genocide, pakistan would have been an amazing multicultural country today.
He was great in movie called "Wednesday". That was his best film
@Arijit Sharma: Sorry, no prejudice here! Apparently you saw a bindi lady and figured somehow it concerns you.....
@Arijit Sharma:
???. Your point is ???? She is Hindu. It is absolutely fine for her to practice and express her religion. Pakistanis respect her and Robin for their contribution to Pakistan Film Industry, where they spend decades.
good to see her... and also good to see that tribune has given courtesy to dawn. Well Done!!!
The Pakistan is gradually adopting South asia as its own home and considering India ,Nepal,bangladesh and Afghanistan as its own and not some one inferior,dark,cunning,ignorant.Good tidings await south asia.
Welcome back home.
That picture is not of her husband, but of film actor and one time superstar Nadeem.
