Plane crash lessons

One can only wonder what lessons we have learnt from the disaster of Bhoja Air.

Letter April 22, 2012

ISLAMABAD: One can only wonder what lessons we have learnt from the disaster of Bhoja Air. For one,  there seems no SOP in place with regards to disasters. Chaos and confusion reigns whenever there is a crash and given the poor safety record that we see on Pakistani skies, one would expect that that the CAA would at least have something in place. The hampering of rescue efforts by the motorcade of Rehman Malik and the stealing of personal effects by bystanders as reported in your paper adds to the pain. The last straw was the charges levied by PIA on the remains of the dead that were being transported back to Karachi. In all this, what is interesting is that no heads have rolled – in the CAA, or elsewhere.
