KARACHI:
The city commissioner, Roshan Ali Shaikh, has ordered the immediate closure of illegal hydrants running in the Korangi Industrial Area (KIA) and arrests of their owners.
During a meeting with the office-bearers of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), Shaikh also barred the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) from issuing any permit for a hydrant in KIA without his approval.
He ordered the area assistant commissioner to have a meeting with the National and Attock refineries and ask them to remove their encroachments and heavy vehicles from the KIA, especially from the ‘5000 Road’ leading to Tannery Zone.
