FAISALABAD: A court ordered Chak Jhumra police on Wednesday to register a case against seven police officials, including the local SHO, for an allegedly fake encounter in which local footballer Tajammul Husain was killed.

Haleema Bibi, Tajammul’s mother, had petitioned Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Asghar seeking a case against the Chak Jhumra SHO Mazharul Haq, Shahid Abbas, Iftikhar Husain, Muhammad Boota, Muhammad Saeed and Iqbal for killing her son.

The court ordered the Faisalabad City Police Officer to include Haleema Bibi’s statement in the case. Earlier, police had filed a case against Tajammal and others for allegedly shooting at police. A judicial inquiry into the incident is also under way.
