The decision was announced at the Registrar Office of the Supreme Court.
Express News reported that the parents had said the decision was not taken in an open court.
The girls, Faryal (Rinkle Kumari), Hafsa Bibi (Dr Lata) and Haleema Bibi (Asha Kumari), had earlier been allowed to decide whether they want to live with their husbands or their family.
The three-member bench, comprising Chief Justice (CJ) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Tariq Parvez, had ordered the police to provide adequate security to the girls and said that in case of any harm faced by the girls, the police officials will be blamed for negligence. The court had added that the girls were old enough to make the right decisions themselves.
The court had earlier sent Faryal and Hafsa to a shelter home called ‘Panah’ in order to give them time to decide their future without any pressure.
The bench was hearing a constitutional petition moved by the Pakistan Hindu Council.
Dr Ramesh Kumar, patron-in-chief Pakistan Hindu Council, had moved the petition asking for the recovery of three females belonging to the Hindu community, including Rinkle daughter of Nandlal (Mirpur Mathello), Dr Lata daughter of Dr Ramesh (Jacobabad) and Asha (Larkana).
Faryal had earlier maintained that she was neither kidnapped, nor converted or married forcibly. She said she converted to Islam and married of her free will, and that nobody pressurised her into doing so. However, her family has alleged that she was abducted and forced to convert and marry.

Did you all know that Mian Mith00 and his hundreds of supporters were threatened by Rinkle's parents and uncle? It was terrifying for an old man to live and fight for justice and finally justice prevailed. Old man is still under threat and Police protection should be given to him and his son/daughter-in-law from the threats of Rinkle's ex-family. Remember what founder of the country has said. Even the majority should be free live under no threats.
@Nayla: A very depressing situation
Rinkle was right when she said in court the first time that Hindus will never get justice in Pakistan, and asked the judge to either send her back with her parents or kill her. Mian Mitthu is too powerful.
These girls will NEVER be heard or seen from again. Their new Muslim husbands will never let them communicate with their families ever again....and even if they commit suicide, the public will never know because it will be covered up.
@Adnan Khan:"pagan names" i smell a lot of hatred
@AHMED: But they didn't want. They just wanted to go home to their parents in the beginning. But now that they've been dishonored they have no choice do they?
@WoW: But they didn't really ever have a choice did they? Rinkal Kumari stated to the first judge that saw her that she had been kidnapped and wanted to go home to her parents. And the judge sent her back to her kidnappers.
@Anon: Not true. Rinkal Kumari stated to the first judge that saw her that she had been kidnapped and wanted to go home to her parents.
This is completely a wrong decision. The chief justice should think over this case once again and should try to give the right decision.
SC hasn't given a clear verdict. There are some issues to deal with. Like, eliminating the factors responsible for Forced conversion if any, and protection for those who changed religion by their free will. I am myself against forced conversion and it must be dealt with iron hands. Those culprits responsible for forced conversion should be punished. We need legislation for this purpose. But at the same time we are responsible for protecting those who adopted new religion by their free will. Down with extremist Mullahs.... Down with progressive liberals....
I think they should be given the right to whatever they want, they have everything to say freely in front of the media and the supreme court and also the chef justice and our courts are free and this was only possible by the great efforts taken by the political parties as well all the NGOs and human rights movements. The girl chose what they really want to chose and this is justice.. No more propaganda should be done on what they have to do..
http://syedowais.blogspot.com/2012/04/faryal-aisha-dr-lata-happy-ending.html
@Nadeem: Very well said Nadeem. The Indians just want to impose their own decision. They will keep moaning.
@Sarfraz Khan: were you with them when they were forced??? did you witness rapes of these girls??? courts moved in, girls accepted to live with their husbands, they were given time to decide their fate,,, now why you insist on your own decision for them???
@Eyeroll //The reality of what actually Indians and minorities think of us is obvious in the comments. //
So.. What did you expect? You thought that the whole world will shower you with rose petals for the way you treat the minorities?
Poor girls have no other choice..Already they have lost their girlhood, religion and now why will they lose their womanhood? They have done right thing under the available circumstances.In another country, things would have been different.
This so called marriage is abominable. The girls have no choice and Pakistani justice system exposed itself to the world community that with gun anything is possible.
Even if the girls had return to home, they would have lived entire life under life threat and possible acid attacks. Also these girls lived with their so called sex starved husbands for months and most likely had forced sex too. Under this situation, what decent choice the girls have? Their life destroyed by thugs such as low lifer Mian Mithu. This is blot on the history of Pakistan and history will judge these acts.
Finally justice has been delivered.It's a fitting reply to all those who question Pakistan's treatment of it's minorities.Here are three girls from minority wants to marry the men they love against the wishes of their respective family and the court gives them a helping hand.Bars the family to meet them,put them in detention long enough to reflect until they realise their fait accompli. This will surely encourage more girls from minority communities to fall freely in love with men from the majority community.
@ Liberal Fanatics :) :) what you say dudes?
its not gud decision of SC,its matter of shame for double standard people who kidnaped,raped non muslims girls and than they brings them in shelter of islam,its not victory of religion,its a better way to protect these kidnapers and rapers,we think that SC can't gone through the realities of that matter,deciosion is given inforcement of religious parties becuase CJ think that he can't face the protest of so called religious parties in battle with PPP Govt:
Good decision at all ... girls have right to live their lives as they want ..
@SK:
I don't see any gun on their heads. Which eye are you using to see the guns? Quit across the border trolling please, will you?
@SK:
With all due respect to Islam
Yet you say our heroes So called? I smell hypocrisy here.
Time told long time back how the Muslims from Arab came in Asia make your old generations to come out of the filth of caste system and what not and gave them a few respect. Even the extremist Lata Mangeshkar and several Hindus visit Ajmer Shrine. So let's not help us to learn about your ignorance about Muslims in this region.
The things you mentioned true and very true that people of Pakistan are not practised Muslims but that does not give someone an excuse NOT to embrace Islam while sources are everywhere.
http://tribune.com.pk/story/365256/forced-conversion-ashas-family-raises-questions-about-her-statement-to-the-media/
additionaly chek the link which says that Asha Kumari is under age (15 years old) how is she supposed to take decision of changing her faith!!!
@Adnan... important thing is taht I think CJ (Iftkhar) was supposed to give an xact decision rather than diplomatic (as he always does) by giving the girls option that you choose family or husband!!! quiet strange!! and God forbid if your family is at gun point/threatened to life what would you choose!! just think and be logical!!
@ Adnan: With all due respect to Islam, what muslims are doing in nothren parts of Pakistan or Karachi or Quetta nd u name the place nd thousands of incidents will be there.....I mean to say If you ppl who r muslims cannt follow your own religion how could you ppl expect others to follow........ nd just go through the history of ur so called muslim heroes (bin qasim etc) what they did to Hindus or Budhist!!! We I am not here to fight but time will tell.........
These girls had no other choice, either die or live. If even truly converted or by force they had to stay where they are otherwise face the 'APOSTASY.... Once Muslim then only Muslim or straight to grave yard. '
By reading the comments above, I don't see the difference between the method of reasoning of leftists/liberals/secularists and religious extremists. We (as in Pakistanis) are no longer intolerant of people, we're also becoming intolerant of ideas. Ho-hum.
PB
The girl's taken the decision to be with their husbands to save their lives. Say if they had taken a decision to be with their parents & returned to the HINDU religion,all the Mulla's would have been after their lives shouting that these girls have converted from Islam to Hinduism ( When they married a Muslim boy they automatically become a Muslim) & punishment for leaving Islam ( Apostasy) is death... So do you really think SC gave them any option to choose???
The girls knew the following:-
(1)The culture in the sub-continent is the men want to marry virgins so considering that it had been widely reported that they had been kidnapped and raped(true or false does not make any difference as because of the publicity their image had been tarnished) no one would marry them.
(2)They had seen how powerless their parents were in that the parents could not even meet t
hem, so they knew that they and their families were not secure if they returned.
The survival instinct has forced them into accepting their rapists as husbands . The SC's job is not to adjudicate but to dispense justice. SAD is all i can say
So technically now the jihad is legal and state sponsored.
being a nonmuslim i love islam but now im loving with muslims of islams
Though for us Muslims it does not make a difference what people babble on online forums, It's quite refreshing to see that majority of the people rejected the propaganda by liberal extremists and their platforms like ETribune.
rinkle gave the statement last time she wants to go with parents and cried . now she said she want to go with her husband is there any proof or any vidio of that statement...? and miss asha she is about 16 year old she has not right to convert his religous according to rules and regulation. i love islam but not muslims of islam.
@Dr Priyanka:
Dr, what good are you doing for the women of your own country who gets killed before even breathe in this world?
You should not worry about Pakistani women.
A lesson to all the Hindus in pakistan. You will have to pay for the decision taken by your ancestors for not moving out to India or other countries in 1947.
Any one thinking that the SC or pakistan has given a fair verdict, just needs to have his brain checked.
The credibility of Supreme court of pakistan was lost when they sent ZAB to gallows.
Umm : A logical and polite response to your messages has not been published. Hope you find the answers urself.
It is a perfect example of travesty of justice. How can these three girls decide for themselves when their families are threatened by mian mithu types over there. Why did the judges not asked the ladies in the court itself ? What is the point in asking their statements to be recorded by the police in the registrars office ? Doesn't the supreme court have their own hall ? Why were the parents not allowed to meet their daughters and mian mithu allowed to talk to them in women shelter ? After a month of harassment, the girls got intimidated and scared. Plain and simple. What a justice !! Sat Sri akal , salam .peace everyone
What other society forces rape victims to marry their rapist?
@Sharma: If that is the truth, only ET is our last hope! Why was she kept in the shelter and why was this Miya whatever was allowed to talk to her. The poor girl is very young and this is a criminal offence. I am very sure that they told her that if she does not accept this marriage her family would be in trouble. I am devastated to the core! I believe even her so called husband threatened to kill her brother! There has to be some way out. The Hindu community should not keep quiet now.
how pathetic to see the beghairat brigades still barking about the force conversion and rape theory? no girl after being raped want to marry her rapist. this case is simply a love story. and thanks to the liberal facists , it has turned to be an epic love story. i wish the couple live a healthy , happy and prosperous life.
Some cruel man take women for trafficing purpose and others for force conversion. I do not see a difference. At the end poor women are forced to compromise. I thought CJ said "daughters belong to all of us"? I iwsh good luck to all other daughters. History is repeating itself. It happened during mughal empire and it is happening in 2012. May be muslim society has stopped evolving? How come no women groups are screaming? My prayers are with poor souls.
@ Ameer,
Stop spreading false propaganda, too bad you had to resort to lies to make your point... Girls have spoken to shut all so called liberals up...
Great decision by Supreme Court..... This whole event made the whole propaganda of these 'so-called' liberals crystal clear. Now that the girls have made their choice without any pressure, these so-called liberals have no right to comment on their decisions.
A number of stupid posts can be seen flowing, like how these ladies married to unknown males, how they quickly embraced Islam, how they had no choice and bla bla. I believe ET can still do a lot of propaganda. Too bad I haven't seen any posts from the ET's fake Zaid Hamid till now ... I believe he is quite close to ET. :p
The final verdict has come and the girls are now free to live according to thier religion. A lot has been written in favour of thier decision and against. However, modesty and sense has been completely lost in the allegations of hindu community and thier Liberal supporters who extended thier views to write in trying to build a story that is absolutely not possible and has no precedence at all. Think about it, have any body heard of a rapist marrying his victim?and we had very noble rapist who abducted the girl then raped her and then forced her to marry him. WHAT A STORY TO TELL JUST TO MALIGN ISLAM/
@adnan,W hat if a member of your family is kidnaped and then given the chice to marry or not to marry . I can only say that in India people wouldn't celebrate if a Muslim girl converted to Hinduism and as a matter of fact most Indians will feel shame and guilt
@Hindustani: Why do think it is forced.... u guys have just one agenda... just criticise anything to do with Pakistan.... ACCEPT IT>>> they have made the decision... learn to live with it... otherwise go and weep somewhere else....
@Sarfraz Khan: how u come to know all these facts ... ??? do u know them or have u meet them ... ??? and please don't try to make stories of your own ...it can be otherwise ...Only ALLAH knows better or they themselves ...damn so called liberals ........
@Ameer, if 16 years old in this society can make open affairs n illegal relations, why cant they can marry?
Whatever they chose, they should have a relationship with their parents. It is not right in Islam that the child pretends to not know the people that love them the most. Except our shame culture, which permeates all communities, might stop the parents and their daughters from having a normal relationship. These brave women, who have let known their free will, can show the path for women of all communities in Pakistan: Women can chose their husbands; AND be on good terms with their parents.
Poor girls!!!!!!
What about the two hundred men of Mian Mitho firing in the court?
I dont know y chief justice of Pakistan sent these girls to Registrar.. For what reasons, and with whom these girls were sent... Everyone should remember the previous hearing when Rinkal clearly said that Everyone in Pakistan is hand in glove, there is justice only for Muslims, there is no justice for Hindus. all these people are hand in glove, they will kill us”. And this is what happened today.... These people will see in future when same will happen with their families.
Justice has NOT been served.. :(
thats good that independant supreme court looked into the matter them selves and happy with the facts.
Can anyone tell me there are millions of hindus around the world why just few of them fighting for their rights in Pakistan, its just our rights are not protected...
@expat:
the 6 million figure figure you are quoting is given by AMARTYA SEN, a well-renowned leftist. it's ironic that when these leftist in your country were saying that the conversions are forced, you labelled them enemies of islam, or what not.
and yes it is a matter of shame for us indians, just like honour killing, acid attack and forced conversions are for your country.
Is there any punishment in Hinduism for apostates?
@all the Indian commenters: Before preaching to us and claiming moral superiority please go to the Time of india website http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/pakistan/Pak-SC-allows-3-Hindu-women-to-decide-their-own-future/articleshow/12717860.cms Just read the comments to see some of the most vile and hateful comments against Islam. The reality of what actually Indians and minorities think of us is obvious in the comments. Makes me feel that Jinnah was a genius for the two nation theory and separating us from india.
I don't speak the language, so I don't know if this video is true or not, but this is a video of Rinkle's supposed first statement in court:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3Gp5EaunKE&context=C4229ef7ADvjVQa1PpcFPcJPKY1r_OTwGfVKVzAW4S6gzRo2dAGJs=
everybody lets get back to work. its not about hindu or muslim. atleast they reached supreme court, matter of raymond davis was wrapped up in lower courts.
Wise choice by the girls for survival. Survival is higher priority than maintaining ones dignity for nonmuslims in pakistan. The girls didn't have any choice.
I wish them all the luck and best wishes and also pray to my own god to keep them safe if possible happy and also pray to whatever god they believe in to keep them happy
@Jpy: did she called u personally to tell this
FOR GODS SAKE let these WOMEN LIVE AS THEY LIKE, NONE OF YOU HAVE ANY RIGHT TO COMMENT OR SPECULATE. if you still think they did it under pressure, shame on you for thinking that they donot have right to decide themselves.
Awwww feeling sorry for liberal extremists now..
@unbeliever How exactly is the condition of women better in your country, when thousands are abused over dowry claims, and millions are aborted on the sole basis that they are girls, in preference of boys. In india women are thought of as a burden, and upto 6 million girls have been aborted in the last decade alone. So please dont preach to us, atleast in this country women have a right to be born.
ahahahhahhhahhaha I am still laughing on liberals and their intolerance!!! These are fake liberals or pseudo liberals. Let the girl live with her own choice and now its very clear. at the end we all have to accept liberalism is also extremism. Liberal extremists are as much problematic for Pakistan as religious extremists.
@Jpy sure, except right now nobody forced her to give statement at gunpoint. If anything its the hindu community and her family that have been harassing and pressuring her to change her mind. She has already given a press conference, numerous court statements and now registered her decision. Please except the reality as it is and move on!!!
@Adnan:
because thee girls had learnt that their former Hindu faith could not provide the safety that they deserved for; their fellows across the borders kill baby foetus every other day just because they were girls. They also learnt that it is ONLY ISLAM that can save them and provide them the position they deserve.
i think you haven't gone through the burning issues of FALAK and AFREEN in india. just have a look at those cases, and then discuss. also who told you that all these abortions are done by hindus only, have you got any religious break-up for the sex-selective abortions in india. for all practical purposes muslims are as bad and as good as hindus in my country, so before bragging about the greatness of your religion just take a look at the pathetic condition of women in your country and then talk.
What about all those lame ET bloggers who wrote all those token blogs on the monsterous Pakistanis over this case only to now find out that all the allegations were unfounded in the first place??? The girls had categorically stated from the start that they converted on their own free will but papers like ET and bandwagon activists on twitter buried that news and kept asserting otherwise till openly proven false. Let this be a lesson learnt for all these short sighted activists!!!!
Here is the catch.
Since when is the Registrar Office a replacement for an open court verdict? What a joke of travesty. There is no justice in Pakistan for Hindus.
@ Pakistan: Congratulations to all those celebrating on this forum. A family just lost their child (still a minor) - certainly a moment worth rejoicing.
it is proved that it is not force convertion
@SK:
onething that more of this kind of issues will pop up with the passsage of time
Embracing Islam is nto an issue in Pakistan, atleast for us, Muslims
@ adnan/ adnan khan: you are really doing no service to Islam or to Pakistan by your intolerant and arrogant attitude in your comments. It is juvenile and off putting. Have some courtesy and common sense.
now wat!!!! indians go back to india and listen to the chants you made before the Gujrat Genocide.
@Umm..:
when the dalits convert to islam or christianity, then they loose the benefits because they are reserved for dalits only. islam and christianity, claim themselves to be egalitarian faith, as such, a concept like dalit or brahmin, are anathema to them. so there is no reason why dalits upon conversion to islam be treated preferentially, because whether sheikh or sayyid or dalit are same in your religion.
the above answer is only for the most depressed castes. indian constitution, however, does recognise historically underprivileged castes termed as other backward castes, and therefore benefits are provided corresponding to this group. almost 80% of indian muslims come under this category. a comprehensive list is given below.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ListofMuslimOtherBackwardClassescommunities.
seats are reserved for these communities in all government institutions.
. only some castes like sayyid, sheikh , mughal, mallik and pathans are excluded from this category, because they have been historically elites in the country.
and before you get ready for some more vitriol, just google your confusions and you will be in a position to discuss as an informed person.
Now the conspiracy theories about kidnapping, forcible conversions and under pressure marriages of these girls should be come to an end because the Highest Court of Pakistan has decided the case.
@Pakistan politics: She was made to give that statement at gunpoint
These girls have made best decision!! this will strengthen sindhi and hindu relations in future...after all we are brothers and live in one country.
WHAT??? The last news article I read said that Rinkle cried in open court and begged to go back to her parents, and said she would rather die than be Muslim. But, the court sent her back to the madrassa instead. I'm going to try to find the article again.
What changed so much since then?????????????????????????????????????????
@ameer Stupid ! 16 year old girls can marry in Pakistan according to law !!
@ Vasan
All these are from Tribune...and since which a newspaper article become a solid evidence? And we do have so called liberals in our country who sit in their air conditioned rooms and read articles from these newspapers and make their opinion without going to know or knowing the realities on ground.
I am still trying to understand why they converted to Islam only after getting raped & tortured. If they had that much faith they should have converted without this drama
I dont know what is "liberalism" in the minds of these liberals. If the girl themselves want to live with their husband, who are you to predict their mind? Are you with them, in their hearts? If this is rule that you people will decide who is saying this from heart and who are not, then dont call yourself liberals. And what else the supreme court and govt do to satisfy you people that this is decision of these girls? Or you will accept it only when it is according to your wishes which is coverting them back to their previous religion by force? Shame on you and your so called liberalism.
@PostMan: when your PPP ministers like Mian Mithoo stand behind these rapists with guns then do you think these girls will have strength to speak against these people !
The girls are of age, sound mind and they have made their free choice clear. Now I expect all NGO foreign agents and liberal fundamentalists to allow them to live their lives in peace, without being harangued. . And their names are Faryal, Hafsa and Haleema. Please don't keep repeating their pagan names in papers. You insult them..
lol haha I feel sorry for ET and other seculars who were expecting a different decision by the girls.
if girls announced their decision to live with their husband, that mean they were not forced to become Muslim. GOOD no more harassment from Hindu Community
Very good decission by faryal bibi and Supreme Court... This is called a real Justice ..
@The Sacred Flower: Justice...my foot. This is mullaism.Long live court Taliban.
@ALi:
They have been crying since the beginning. Not surprising though.
@VASAN: In response to your articles. Please read similar articles about India's harassment of converts to Islam and Christianity well documented by UN and other international orgs: http://www.unhcr.org/refworld/topic,459d17822,45b61f562,3ae6a84b4,0.html http://www.thomasschirrmacher.net/blog/when-indian-dalits-convert-to-christianity-or-islam-they-lose-social-welfare-benefits-and-rights-they-are-guaranteed-under-the-constitution/ http://www.cbn.com/CBNnews/455386.aspx http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Asia-South-Central/2008/0924/p07s03-wosc.html The above reports show that converts in india also face threats, systematically lose welfare benefits and protection of law and are discriminated against openly. It's easy to criticise others without delivering your own responsibilities first!!!
hahahahah hahahah happy to see liberals crying out loud!!! looool
Mr Ahmad : I am questioning the ability of a minor girl( Age 15 in this case) to properly evaluate a diff religion and convert. And I question the marriage of a juvenile as well. When there are so many forced conversion going on in Pakistan, esp Sind as reported in many pakistani papers, One tends to conclude this would be another example of that as well. Pl understand that I am not against religious conversions if people take informed judgement. Each individual can follow whatever religion that suits him/her,. Adnan > You can search any Pakistani paper and you will find these articles. No point in denying the truth my friend.
Vienna,April 18,2012 If the girls had married of their own free will the parents have no right to enforce their honorary Khap Panchayat.They should be let to live in peace with their husbands.The question arises only when conversion is forced. No infringement of individual rights in favour of parents.The Hindus have no Muslim religious rights in this regard. Taravadu Taranga Trust for Media Monitoring TTTMM India --Kulamarva Balakrishna
@Pakistan politics:
Mian Mitha has openly declared on a famous TV Talk show that punishment of her “reverting back” is death in Islam. How could she not like Islam in that case? Her life depends on it. This is pretty shameful for Islamists who come here and claim there is no force involved when these threats are openly and publicly being made on national tv and no cases or prosecution is being brought against the culprits by the Supreme Court, no less.
Dear Mr.Vasan We are against forcibly conversion to any religion but rankle case is totally different.She has clearly uttered that she is freely accepting Islam.For detail watch video of express tv http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okev2ojehLw&feature=player_embedded
Disgusting...for this judgement supreme court has to be involved?
@vasan:
Citing Tribune? LOL that's sums up well how you learn about Pakistan. Tribune for Pakistanis is just like DailyMail of UK
Foreign funded NGO's and other liberal organization should follow there own statement now!
Rights Freedom of Expression,Freedom of Rights
Imagine if, Godforbid, some Pakistani Muslim girl would have embraced other religion and SC would have given same verdict, the same radical liberal faction was going to curse Mullahs that they are not allowing girls to live their lives as per their freedom. Ironic, No?
@vasan and lakhani: Can you tell me how come numerous dalits and other castes who convert to islam and Christianity are being threatened and harassed and even attacked by hindu outfits in India? India has the same problem that you are complaining about!!!
Let this be a lesson to all those aggressive liberals who jump the gun to whip up a frenzy on every token human rights case they can find to make it a huge issue against Pakistan and Mullahs on the first opportunity they can get. This case is an another example of how liberals undermine themselves through unnecessary hysteria and unfounded allegations only to fall flat on their face. And im not even a mullah supporters, I am just appalled and dismayed by the publicity obsessed hysterical behaviour of these so called social activists who just ramble online all day on twitter, only to eat their words later. Expecting more intelligent and informed behaviour from both liberals(and mullahs too) next time.
her will,watch now
her will,watch now> rinkal accepting islam according to
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okev2ojehLw&feature=player_embeddedher will,watch now
@Aley If they choose to live with their husbands that itself disproves the abduction case. They were called from khi so that they could get away from the pressure of both sides. I think in this case the pressure has been more from the hindu community and families to the girls to renounce their faith then the mullahs. They recorded their decisions with freedom. These girls have repeatedly stated they are doing so on their converting by choice. Now accept it and move on please.
I m against this decision because they are three under pressure and finally they accept islam
@vasan:
There is no forced conversion in Pakistan or your Indian mindset is forcing you to be in state of denial.
MAJOR FAIL BY LIBERAL EXTREMISTS. This time they used everytime every ploy - howling in the media, raising international outcry, stirring unfounded accusations on facebook and twitter only to fall flat on their faces. This is a lesson for all the senseless bandwagon publicity seeking liberals - not everything is a giant mullah sponsored conspiracy okay??? Since you guys are obviously so peace loving, tolerant and champions of free will and consent, I hope you will whole heartedly accept the decision of the girls that they have on their own accord chosen to live with their families. Stop crying now. Enough!
Adnan. Thanks for your invitation. Fortunately nobody forces religious conversions in India. Neither I am a young girl. I am quiet at peace with my religion and dont want to disturb that.
@Hmmm:
haahha. WHy not let someone gives her a chance to embrace Islam?
A pathetic decision; Some points i will like the trumpet blowers of SC to answer; 1. Whats the importance of this decision until the abductors are not taken to task. 2. Why the victims of forced conversions (Asha, Lata & Rinkle) were not heard despite the complaint that Mian Mithu threatened them in Panaa shelter home? 3. Why the girls were called from Karachi if they were not to be heard? 4. Why no decision / investigation on Asha case?
This sort of decisions can be termed justice only by this SC....
This is like the choice between the devil (their husbands) and the deep sea (going back to their families when they are probably no more virgins). The most likely decision by these women would be to stay back with their "husbands". Going back would be ruinous not just to them, but in our societies, to their families as well; in any case they would be liabled to be killed for having deserted Islam.
In the unlikely scenario that one of them does get back, it would be interesting to see what the sc would decide, if at all, about those who are alleged to have kidnapped them and converted them forcibly
@MarkH: 'The fact people can’t convert from Islam actually makes it impossible to claim that it supports freedom of choice.'
Just a correction. Quran totally allows freedom of religion though acts of muslims suggest otherwise.
Something is fishy here. in last court hearing Rinkle Kumari begged and screamed to be allowed to go home with her mother but was forcibly sent to shelter.
@vasan:
I don't see any guns. Maybe in your nightmares. What all I saw in videos that the lady says on channels that she embraced Islam at her own will.
I also use this occasion to invite you to embrace Islam.
How is this a good "decision" by not making a decision at all and leaving it all on the girls? The SC should have investigated the matter and if girls were pressurised in any way should have ordered prosecution against the abductees but no such action was taken. Criminals were left scot free while life of girls ruined with constant threat to their life for the rest of their lives. What precedence has been set here? Abduct and rape a Hindu girl and the worst that can happen is to be asked to return the girl, only to abduct another one in future. What a joke. Blind followers of SC need to think about it.
Faryal has maintained that she was neither kidnapped, nor converted or married forcibly. She said she converted to Islam and married of her free will, and that nobody pressurised her into doing so ET feeling embarrassed ?
@mr right: Its her decision whether hindu or islam... because forced conversion is not allowed in Islam....
Poor Marvi Sarmed must be restless
@ali: um. The fact people can't convert from Islam actually makes it impossible to claim that it supports freedom of choice. It's more like one sided convenience. People are allowed to abandon every religion but Islam. In a more current context, "You only have rights when it benefits us."
Very cunning "decision" by SC as it did not want to offend the Mullahs and left it on girls to take all the pressure of making the “right” decision. Why could SC not say this on the first day of hearing if it does not have the courage to make a decision in the face of Mullahs?
Perfect decision appreciated....!
These cases are so sickening to hear.
I could be wrong and they could decide to go back to their parents, butI I don't see any happy ending to this story - our society is not advanced enough to welcome these girls back who have suffered for no fault of their own - a rape victim remains victimized. The lives of these girls is ruined and they may be better off in the new faith than going back home as 'soiled' goods (harsh but true).
My lord, you left them to decide thier fate, but you did not say anything about those who abducted them and forced them to convert and marry? this is not justice at all!
Weeks after being kidnapped, forcefully married, converted, threatened and raped (yes, it's a rape), the court lets the girls decide.
The worst country on the face of this Earth has got to be Pakistan.
It is disgraceful to supreme court of pakistan, all these girls are under pressure, afraiding that their decision will kill their family members by islamic supporters. It is too sad condition of Hindus in Pakistan, Shame on government for not protecting minority rights .
Mr. CJ, stop behaving like a SHO of a village police station. After all that hustle and bustle, this is what a Supreme (I mean SPREME) court orders. This could have been done at the lowest level locally.
@Faisal: No jumping ahead. First see the final outcome.
Finally a fair decision of the SC!
This is what real Islam is...freedom to chose...No comments from anti Pak, anti islam, Cia agents...
Adnan : At gun point, yes.
The judgement in this case has to be a straight forward one. Dont u have any laws which protect minors. Isnt marriage before the age of 18 for girls a punishable offense in Pakistan?
which means supreme court is playing politics. the girls must have opted for their parents home, but now mullahs will have a field day.
The court again failed to give a clear verdict as it should have ordered action against all people including influential policemen and politicians for forcing girls to change her religion and then marrying someone unknown to them. Justice delayed is justice denied. Will it stop abductions and forced marriages of Hindu girls to Muslims? Absolutely not. Down with the judicial system in Pakistan !
The girls can't live a safe life back home if they were forcefully converted. Make it a test case and give the girls an option of going abroad and practice their old faith, if they do not feel safe in Pakistan.
The Supreme Court has given three Hindu girls – who were allegedly forced to convert to Islam and marry Muslims - the right to decide their future themselves, Express News reported on Wednesday. Oh............ Such a just and merciful court!!! It actually believes that it is defending the minority rights!!!
If this is the decision of supreme court then one must say it is exercise in futility,the time would have been better uitlized in despensing justice pending since decades.
Good Decision by the SC. The girls have every right to decide their own future...whether to be muslims or to be hindus and go back to their family. Their families nor the families of the boys have no right to pressurize them. Its their life and their decision. well done Iftiqar Chaudhary Saheb. I just hope the police really protects the girls because whatever decision they take, one party will be upset with them and will try to coerce them, which should not happen.
Isn't Asha Kumari 16 yrs old and the guy she married already has 3/4 children from a previous marriage..Who in their right mind would think that a 16 yr old kid is old enough to make the right decisions herself.In any other country her supposed husband would be imprisoned by now for marrying an underage girl, with or without her permission.
After hearing this I can't hold my tears of joy and happiness!! Supreme Court Zindabad!! Chief Justice Zindabad!!
Its a good decision................ let them decide their future since they're adults............. n its good not to be blackmailed by liberal fascists and hindu community
Wow! A court needs to grant you the permission to make decisions for yourself.
Well if they really were forced to convert, then I just hope that they gather enough strength to choose to stay with their parents and speak out. Future of rest of the females of minority community rests on their shoulders. They can be the harbinger of a new Pakistan in which minorities are not harassed. God Sped.
Great verfict. What about compensation from the macho men that made their lives misreable?
Great verdict nonetheless.
